Axamer Lizum

Ski Area

Axamer Lizum is one of nine ski areas around the famous and beautiful city of Innsbruck, which is known as the capital of the Tirol. As there’s an airport at Innsbruck with direct flights from the UK and because it is less than half-an-hour from the airport to the ski centre, Axamer Lizum is one of the quickest and easiest ski areas to reach from Britain.

The resort is a mid-sized ski centre with 40km of runs served by 10 lifts, which include a modern fast funicular. Most downhill skiing events at the various Innsbruck Winter Olympics were staged here. There are runs for all ability levels including some great off piste descents that local guides will be happy to take you too, but it also has wonderful beginner and intermediate terrain.

The proximity to the city of Innsbruck really takes the potential of Axamer Lizum to another level. It’s very easy to pop down to the city for some sophisticated (apres ski, city-break style shopping or cultural attractions, it’s all there. The city also has a very affordable area ski pass which covers those other eight ski areas nearby and can be a smart purchase for a longer stay.

Altogether the pass covers more than 300km of groomed runs and resorts like Kuhtai, which featured in TV show The Jump and the Stubai Glacier which offers guaranteed skiing from September to June and recently invested more than €50m on new lifts.
