As well as being one of the world’s great ski areas, Chamonix is one of the best ski towns on earth, with a vibrant mix of shopping, restaurants, bars and nightlife as well as 101 different things to do off the slopes, making it a good choice for couples and groups that include non-skiers.

The skiing is divided into several different sectors which include family and beginner friendly ski areas as well as some of the most exciting and challenging on and off-piste runs to be found anywhere, plus the legendary Vallee Blanche, the world’s longest lift-served descent at more than 20km.   • The Chamonix Valley has 155kms of piste with runs catering for all abilities as well as access to some of the best freeride skiing and snowboarding on the planet.
  • Montanvers furnicular railway to the bottom of the mare de glace offers amazing views and there is an ice cave to explore. You can ski in la tour then all the way down to Vallercine and get the train back to Chamonix.
  • The Vallée Blanche is a once in a lifetime experience that every skier has to do at least once. Not one of the most difficult routes to ski but almost certainly the most breathtaking in terms of scenery. The route can get busy so it is best to get an early lift.
  • Chamonix town is a great place to buy any winter gear you may be after with shops to suit all budgets.
